W11371714 Clicking but No Start: Describe the Sequence
A click near the lid does not prove that a W11371714 latch has successfully completed every required action. It also does not prove the latch is defective. The timing and the washer's next response are the useful evidence.
Record one normal attempt
Operate the assembled washer only as directed by its manual. Note whether the click happens once or repeats, whether an indicator changes, whether water enters and whether an error appears. A short video can preserve the sequence without relying on memory.
Do not keep attempting starts if the mechanism is grinding, the lid hardware is damaged or another abnormal condition appears. Do not reach into the latch opening while it is powered.
Check the visible closing path
After safely stopping and disconnecting power, look for accessible clothing or debris at the lid edge and obvious damage to the separate striker. Whirlpool's lid-indicator guidance includes closing-path interference among checks; it does not say every clicking complaint requires a new lock.
Do not push a tool into the latch to create an artificial lid-closed condition. Physical interference should be resolved using the model's instructions, not by defeating the interlock.
Use the sequence for diagnosis
Provide the full model and exact error wording to the service provider. Ask what distinguishes mechanical engagement, electrical lock feedback, a harness problem and a control issue on this model.
If replacement is justified, confirm the W11371714 application and compare the supplied housing, connector and mounting points. A successful repair should complete a normal cycle and release the lid as intended, not only produce a different click.
